I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about how we tote our stuff around the World! Arriving in August on our first trip with our 2 boys (5, 10). I don't want backpacks to get too heavy on a hot day. Umbrella stroller has no storage room. Any suggestions?

    Hi Wendy,

Woo-hoo!  Your family's first trip to Walt Disney World is only a month away.  I'm so excited for all of you!  Your boys are at such a magical age to explore the wonders of Walt Disney World.

I'm going to argue that a backpack is the way to go as you navigate the parks.  I always take a backpack no matter how hot it is.  Because the weight of my belongings is evenly distributed when wearing a backpack, this puts less wear and tear on the user (that's me!) over the course of a long vacation.  Even though your son's umbrella stroller doesn't offer a designated storage compartment, you can put the backpack on the back of the stroller when he is riding in it.  Then, when he is out of the stroller, the backpack will fit nicely in the seat.  I think you'll find that this system works pretty well.

Just a word of advice about using a stroller at Walt Disney World:  tie a brightly colored ribbon or bandanna on your stroller to make it easy to spot.  You're going to see a sea of strollers as you move throughout the parks.  Also, don't leave any valuables in an unattended stroller for obvious reasons.  Guests sometimes forget this as they hurry off to a favorite attraction.

Sending you extra pixie dust for a truly magical vacation with your family!  Let us know if you have any additional questions as your trip approaches.
