I'm a single mom, flying in w/ my 3 yr old son for WDW. I'll bring an umbrella stroller so I have it outside of the park but can you make some other suggestions as to essentials? I'm worried I'll be overwhelmed with all the stuff!

    Hi Amanda,

What a fun trip for you and your son! Disney is magical for children this age!

You will definitely want a backpack to help keep your hands free. I recommend one with just two compartments as you have to open all sections prior to entering the park so this keeps your time at security to a minimum.

When my girls were that age we had the following in our backpack: change of clothes, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, wipes, tissues, a hat, sweatshirt for evenings or restaurants in AC and small activities to use while waiting on lines. The activities were simple like a notebook, pen/pencil, stickers, a book or figures. We would play games on line such as rock-paper-scissor or I Spy.

Also, I recommend skipping the Park Hopper option and go with one park a day. This allows you to take the time to experience the magic of the parks and not feel rushed to see it all. Make sure to use My Disney Experience to book FastPass+ and Advance Dining Reservations for dinner. Having a seat for dinner was a must for our daughters as it gave us the opportunity to rest and decide if we needed to head home for the evening or stay out.

Finally, stick to your son's schedule. If he is an early riser, hit the parks in the morning and be home around his regular bedtime. He is late sleeper, then follow that schedule.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
