I'm a single dad 4 children 2-girls 8&15 2-boys 11&13. Planning a one week trip this October. What are the best accommodations for a family of my size and ease of transportation to Parks? Willing to pay but please be fiscally conscious.

    Hi Brian,

October is a great time to visit the Walt Disney World resort.

For your family, I would recommend that you consider a family suite at the new Art of Animation resort. Each suite -- themed around either the Cars, Finding Nemo or Lion King films -- features two full bathrooms, a kitchenette, a living area, two full-sized beds and a separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed. One of the full-sized beds folds from the wall over the dining table, and one folds out from the sofa.

The suites start at about $315 a night, which is more economical than the villas at the deluxe resorts that would be large enough for your family. I'm a huge fan of this new resort, which is so well-themed and has great pools.

Art of Animation does not share a bus with any other resort, so I've found transportation to and from there to be pretty efficient. Once you board the bus, it will take about 20 minutes to reach Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, less time to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

The All-Star Movies resort also has family suites that are a bit less expensive than Art of Animation, but I find the transportation from that resort to be a bit more cumbersome.

I hope that's useful. Please let me know if I can answer more questions about accommodations, dining, attractions or special events as you plan your visit. I'm happy to help.

Enjoy your time with your family!
