I'm saving to go to WDW in the next year or two. My husband has traveled very little in his life and I was thinking of staying at either the Grand Floridian or Contemporary Resort in the tower. We are fifty somethings. Any recommendations on one vs the

How exciting that you are planning on visiting Walt Disney World! You have picked 2 wonderful resorts that both offer many opportunities for unforgettable memories. My husband and sons would pick Disney's Contemporary Resort as they like the modern feel about the resort and its easy access to the Magic Kingdom since guests can walk back and forth to the park. It is also a lot of fun to have the monorail go right through the middle of the resort, and I never get tired of watching it. Both the Magic Kingdom views (watch the fireworks from your private balcony) and Bay Lake views (peaceful and lovely) are enjoyable. The rooms are quite large at 394 sq. feet. I also like that the rooms are in one building in case you get caught in the rain. One possible downfall is that with the Tower rooms overlooking the monorail, shops, and restaurants, you may find it loud. Also, the combination of elevators and escalators can be a little confusing.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the flagship resort, so it offers more amenities such as robes and turn-down service. The rooms, on average, are also large at 440 sq. feet. If you and your husband enjoy golfing, it is close to three golf courses. This resort is made up of 6 buildings, which can be a disruption if it rains. However, the outlying buildings can be quiet and peaceful. I also like that the bathrooms have sinks outside the shower/toilet area (this is not the case at the Contemporary). While you can't walk to the Magic Kingdom, you can take the monorail or a boat there. If you are visiting over the holidays, I think it is one of the best decorated resorts.
