    Wendy Asked

I'm running the Princess 1/2. I'm a beginner runner and this is my first half. In order to make park plans and reservations, what can I expect my energy will be like after the race on Sunday and the next day Monday? Should I take a break from the parks?

HI Wendy!  The Princess Half Marathon is the perfect first race!  You will absolutely love it!  It was my first half marathon back in 2009 and I was immediately hooked on racing (at Disney World, of course!).

With it being your first half, you may want take a break from the parks on Sunday.  Plan for an afternoon nap, maybe a massage, and then a nice recovery meal at one of your favorite Disney restaurants.

You can go to bed early, and be ready to go again on Monday.  You will probably be a little stiff and sore, but walking around at the parks will actually be a great way to loosen all those muscles up again.

Be sure you follow a training plan that has you running at least close to the 13.1 miles before you go.  (I highly recommend the Jeff Galloway training plans) That way you will know what your body is going to feel like after a long run.  Pack a few Ibuprofen and you will be just fine!

    Have a great time!

Let me know if you have any other questions as you plan for your big race!
