Princess Half Marathon

I'm running the Princess half in Feb 2018. My husband and 3 year old non-walking son with CP will be coming too! Any advice for the trip, park, or the race in general as far as accommodating my son? Tips for spectating, etc? Anything is appreciated! :)

    Hi Maria!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Congratulations on registering for the Disney Princess Half Marathon! That will be so wondEARful to have your little one and hubby there to chEAR you on!

There are a couple different options for spectators throughout the course to view their runner. The first location, and most magical in my opinion, is along Main Street U.S.A. as you approach Cinderella Castle inside of Magic Kingdom. This area will open for spectators starting at 5:30 AM and they will not need a ticket to enter at this time. As a runner, it's a spot that always brings happy tears to my eyes because the moment is truly incredible and I think it'd be awesome for you to have your son and hubby there. The other option will be at the finish line. This area is first come, first serve, but it's a rather long stretch so I'm confident they'll be able to find a spot. It has historically been in the Epcot parking lot so while it will be crowded the surface is smooth so I think your husband will find it easy to maneuver. While it is not at all a necessity, one option is to look into the ChEAR Squad Packages for them. This will have a reserved viewing area within Magic Kingdom and at the finish line, with a private restroom, hot & cold beverages and some awesome ChEAR Squad swag. More information can be found on the Spectator tab.

For the park portion of your runcation, Walt Disney World provides numerous accommodations for Guests with disabilities, like the Disability Access Service. I'd certainly use this to make the most out of your time for your family. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
