I'm planning my 7 year old son's first Disney trip this year, as his 8th birthday gift. I'd like the A-Z on booking an affordable trip with character dining, and all. We're only going to 1 park and that's Magic Kingdom for 3 days.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Janette!
I'm so excited you get to plan an unforgettable birthday visit for your son. My daughter had a chance to celebrate her birthday in the Magic Kingdom when she turned nine. There's something extra magical about celebrating at Walt Disney World Resort.

When I start planning a visit, I take a look at the Special Offers page to see if the dates of my visit qualify for discounts. When it comes to setting up a trip with affordable character dining, if there is a discounted deal that includes the Disney Dining Plan, I'll pay extra so I can have the meal plan include table service meals. Whenever I have a visit to the parks with a lot of table service meals, I know I'll save money with the help of a dining plan.

One of my favorite free experiences at Magic Kingdom Park is the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card game. You can collect extra cards each day you visit the Magic Kingdom. Your son may also have a blast playing A Pirate's Adventure in Adventureland.

Let me know if you have any extra questions about activities and fun you can have for your birthday boy!
