I'm planning to take my son to Fantasmic for his 1st Disneyland trip. Dining packages/River Belle Terrace viewing section/FastPass...which would you recommend for a 20 month old? P.S. 9PM is a little past his bedtime so not sure how he'll be...

    Hiya, Dena!

Oh boy! Fantasmic! is one of my favorite shows at the Disneyland Resort. I love the combination of live action, pyrotechnics, lasers, and imagination! My absolute favorite way to watch this amazing Nighttime Spectacular is with a Fantasmic! Dining Package at the Blue Bayou Restaurant. I love being front and center with all the action. That said, I understand that life with a toddler is sometimes unpredictable. Because of that uncertainty, I would personally be hesitant to invest in a Dining Package for this event. Of course, you may still choose to enjoy a meal at one of those amazing dining locations. But for flexibility and peace-of-mind, I suggest picking up a complimentary Disney FASTPASS for the show. If you have Disney MaxPass added to your park tickets, you may make that Fantasmic! FASTPASS selection from the convenience of your mobile device!

Vacation fun can sometimes throw off a toddler’s normal schedule. Perhaps some advanced planning can help increase the chances of your son not only lasting into the evening but also being happy and alert to enjoy Fantasmic! For example, a late-morning excursion to the Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island may be a great way to burn off some energy. Or, if you have Park Hopper tickets, you may wish to visit the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure Park. After some vigorous playtime, your son may be ready for a hearty lunch. Then, with a full belly, I know I’d be ready to lie down for a nap. An afternoon break back at your hotel room can be just the right thing to recharge and be ready to return to Disneyland Park for evening fun watching the show!

I hope you have a magical time at the Happiest Place on Earth, Dena!
