I'm planning on returning to WDW in may 2010. I've always wanted to stay on-site but consider it a little over my budget with a family of 5. Is it worth spending the extra money?

I personally can't imagine staying off property. To me, so much of the Disney magic takes place when you're totally immersed in the experience as you are at the WDW resorts. But whether it's worth it depends on your total financial picture and what your vacation priorities are. If you click HERE, you can see my answer to a question about pricing for staying on site for a family of five.

In my mind, the biggest benefits of staying on WDW property are the fun and detailed themeing at every Disney resort, as well as the friendly and fabulous service by the Disney cast members. Other than these intangibles, some of the benefits of staying on Disney property include:

    - Free parking at the Disney theme parks
    - Access to park Extra Magic Hours
    - Access to the Disney Dining Plan
    - Free transportation to/from the Orlando airport via Magical Express
    - Free transportation from your resort to the parks and Downtown Disney
    - Ability to make dining reservations up to ten days before off-site visitors
    - Free package delivery from the parks to your hotel
    - Ability to charge park purchase to your room

I hope this helps you think about your lodging decision.
