I'm planning a birthday dinner for my best friend, she's extremly picky, and I know that most food across property tastes almost all the same when it comes things she eats. What's a good fancy place that makes things a little better than the rest.

Disney World is a great place to celebrate a birthday! You don't say what your friend's food preferences are, so I'll just speak generally here ...

My two favorite "fancy" dinner places are Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge and the California Grill in the Contemporary. The food is superb (or even better than that) in both places and they both have top-flight sommelier on staff. But for me, the real magic of these places is the atmosphere.

Artist Point has gorgeous Craftsman-style furniture and muted earth tones throughout. The service is impeccable, you really feel like you're at a Northern retreat there. The California Grill makes wonderful fish. And it has the added bonus of being a viewing spot for the Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom.  To take a look at the menus for these restaurants, you could go to allearsnet.com. Just click the search button and type in the name of the restaurant. The chefs do tinker from time to time, but you will get a good overview here.
