I'm planing a trip this Sept for my husband and our 3 boys: age 10,6,4. It's our first family trip there. Looking to stay onsite. my youngest is autistic. What's available to help with kids with special needs? What is the best options/values?

Hi, Sallee! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

My friend and fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelist, Jacqueline, considers her Walt Disney World Resort vacations one of the key elements of her son’s developmental progress. You can check out some tips that she recently gave to another Guest!

To highlight some of her magical suggestions, Services for Guests with Disabilities is a great resource to help you with your planning. You may also qualify for the Disney Parks Disability Access Card, another way that Walt Disney World Resort helps create an inclusive atmosphere.

As for your question about your choice of Disney Resort hotels, these vary from Value to Deluxe Villas. Disney Value Resorts are often the easiest on the budget, but keep in mind that they are very stimulating, which may affect your son (or it may be great for him). In order to accommodate 5 Guests, you would need a Family Suite or two Standard Rooms. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside is a Moderate Disney Resort hotel and has a laid-back atmosphere and can accommodate families of 5. If you want to be close to Magic Kingdom Park, then I suggest either:

-Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
    -Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
    -Disney’s Contemporary Resort

All three are connected via Resort Monorail to Magic Kingdom Park, can accommodate families of 5,  and make it easy to take an afternoon break and get back to the room quickly.

I have more suggestions for you, but I am running out of space! Please come back soon!
