I'm an "older" princess (42), and I'll be in WDW (solo) in May. I finally got up the courage to book a character meal (thanks to reading your panel). I booked the ARBH, but now I'm thinking I should switch to CRT if it's available (big IF). Tho

    Hi Ayah,

Several of the moms on the Panel are also 42 -- I'll never tell who -- and we would never call ourselves "older." We're just princesses who need a few extra waves of the wand to get help us get ready for the ball ;-) The Fairy Godmother is tired when she gets done with us!

I myself have been to WDW twice for vacation all on my own. Believe it or not, it was the perfect place to get away from the kids for a few days and unwind.

I will say that dining in a restaurant alone did take some getting used to for me. If you're unsure of you comfort level with this, you could practice a bit at home. Start by maybe going to an afternoon movie by yourself. (I love doing this. Even this feels like a mini-vacation to me.) Then work your way up to going to a local diner by yourself -- bring the newspaper if it helps you feel comfortable. The big step is a dinner at a real restaurant by yourself. If you can do that, you can do ANYTHING.

Dining alone at WDW is actually much easier than dining alone at home, particularly at a character meal. At character meals, it's really more like your dining with a big group of friends and they just have to get up and go to the bathroom a lot. Seriously, the characters and servers will treat you with the utmost respect and will perhaps give you even more attention than if you were with a large group. You can ask your server to take photos of you with the characters and they will be glad to do so.

Cinderella's Royal Table is a wonderful experience. I think the atmosphere in the Castle is divine. If you can get a reservation, then that's a great choice. But the characters will treat you well wherever you are.

I'm sure you'll have a great time on your solo trip to WDW!
