I'm going to MK with my 7 month old. I found a list of all the attractions without a height requirement & Pirates of the Caribbean was listed! I'd love to ride it, but concerned it may be too much for the baby-I think I remember a pretty significant dr

    Hi Karen!

I love hearing from other parents who want to bring their infants/toddlers to Walt Disney World. My daughter's first trip was when she was 7 months old and my son's first trip was when he was only 4 months old. I will never forget what it was like to see them react to their surroundings. I will truly cherish those memories.

That being said, we took both of our children on Pirates of the Caribbean during their respective first visits. One of my first memories as a child was from that attraction, so it holds a special place in my heart.

If you decide to take your child, there are two parts of the attraction where you might want to make sure you're offering a warm snuggle to your child.  The first one is the drop that occurs as you approach the dark corridor within the first 20-30 seconds of the attraction.  It's a quick drop, but it's still snuggle-worthy. The second one is right after the drop where you see the canon-fire being exchanged. There will be a few loud booms and splashes, but a good snuggle will be a perfect shield for your little one.

If you have a go-to technique for soothing your child, feel free to use it on these types of attractions. The sights and sounds will offer an amazing sensory experience, so I wouldn't shy away from them.

I loved watching my children gaze around and soak it all in. If you have a good camera that can take pictures in low light (without a flash of course!), then try to snap some shots of your child during the rides. They'll be awesome keepsakes!

I hope that helps a little. If you should have any other questions or would like other tips for enjoying Walt Disney World with an infant/toddler, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

I hope you have an awesome vacation!

    Best regards,
    Derek
