I'm making plans for 1st trip! How long does it take to get to the back of the park after rope drop incl. bag check, etc? Specifically HS & MK. Basically, with a 9am opening (arriving 30or45 min early) when can I expect to be in line for a ride?

    Hey, Alisia!

Hey there, hi there, ho there and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort will be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! I love trying to figure out how long it will take to get from Point A to Point B anywhere in Walt Disney World Resort. The variables are numerous and include, party size, age, weather, crowd levels and whether a parade or stage show is in your path.

When we traveled with our children and needed a stroller, we were able to travel within 15-20 minutes between any locations in the parks at any crowd level. Now that my kids walk, and walk quickly, we can usually make any distance within 10-15 minutes. Of course, if you want to stop for pictures with your camera or at a Disney PhotoPass Photographer, you will add some time.

If you arrive 30-45 minutes before park opening you will breeze through security checkpoints and still make the Magic Kingdom Welcome Show. With quick legs and no stopping, you can be on an attraction in 10 minutes in both Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. I love to start in Fantasyland then follow the theme park counter clockwise.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, depending on the attraction, it will be 10-15 minutes from rope to ride and 30-45 minutes before park opening is plenty of time.

Disney Dad Tip: At Disney's Hollywood Studios, my suggestion is Toy Story Midway Mania! first then Rock n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Make sure to make FastPass+ reservations for Toy Story Midway Mania! for a second ride later in the morning and catch the Aerosmith attraction later also in the single rider line. Other FastPass+ attractions are The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Star Tours~The Adventures Continue.

Alisia, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
