I'm looking to book next August with a 9 and 12 year old. Will it be too hot to enjoy or is there ways to make it easier? we have been at easter before - could you advise of best way to enjoy?

    Sandra:

The summer can bring high temperatures to Disney, and it's not a "dry" heat... However, you'll be surprised how resilient children are to sweat and sun when they're having fun.

There are many ways to beat the heat at Disney so you can enjoy your time, here are a few tips:

    • Get to the parks at least 30 minutes before opening so that you can make the most of lower morning temperatures as well as the lower crowds that will allow you to see more attractions.
    • Leave the parks by lunch time when the temperatures near their peaks to retreat back to your hotel's pool or your air-conditioned room for a Disney movie and few snacks from the food court.
    • If you find the kids not wanting to leave the parks, plot your afternoon attractions INSIDE, visiting shows that pipe in the air conditioning instead of rides that make you swelter in queues outside. Good news, though, is that fewer attractions now have outside queues.
    • Stay well-hydrated. Did you know that you can get a cup of ice water for free from any counter-service restaurant?
    • Add the Water Parks & More option to your ticket. It not only makes a great value but if your kids don't want to get up early for the theme parks, the water parks open later. Visit them first and tour the theme parks in the evenings when it's cooler.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
