    Amy from AZ Asked

Hello, I'm looking for advice to survive my 10 day trip with the forecast of rain/thunder/lightening storms. Ughh. My kids are disappointed. Will the water parks still be open? I have rain ponchos to bring. But any advice from the pros how to survive?

Hi, Amy!  I was just looking at the forecast for my weekend trip, and even though I've lived through some nasty Florida weather, it's always a bit disheartening to see rain in the forecast!

One thing about Orlando is that many times, the storms are fast moving.  You might enjoy an entire day at a park and miss a horrible storm while you are inside of an attraction.  You would barely know a storm occurred!  I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the type of storms you are facing, but just in case, some of my rainy weather tips -

Ponchos are a lifesaver.  Have one for everyone, plus a bag you can put them in when the weather clears.

I prefer shoes that will dry quickly, like Crocs.  If you don't like walking around in wet sneakers and socks, definitely bring a back up or use a fast drying shoe so your feet are comfortable.

Even if it's warm outside, if you do get wet, it can feel quite cool inside restaurants and attractions.  If rain is forecast, I might keep a sweatshirt tied around my waist to pull on when I go inside.

Look up in the sky!  The good thing about Florida is it's mostly flat.  You can look up and actually see the weather coming.  If you see a storm on the horizon, consider an inside attraction.

The water parks will be open, assuming it is only raining.  They will remove guests from the water in lightning, but again, it may just be for a very short time.

    Sending you dry thoughts!
