    I'm a huge planner! I usually visit WDW during summer where planning is a MUST! But I get to surprise my kids (9 &5) with a Jan trip! How do I plan for slower months? Is it crucial that I am at the park at rope drop? I have strategies to avoid lon

    Emmalea,

    You are right to ask what the general strategy differences are for coming at a slow time, as opposed to at a busy time. Here are a few;

    • Embrace Extra Magic Hours Remember how you use to avoid morning Extra Magic Hours like the plague because the made a park into a packed madhouse? Now consider them a nice perk, especially the evening ones.
    • Arrive early Just because the parks are not as crowded doesn't mean that you have them all to yourself. Arriving at rope drop, if easy for you and family to do, is a great idea. By the time the bulk of the day's crowd arrives you won't just have already enjoyed several attractions, but you probably will have moved on to other sections of the park that the new arrivals won't immediately head towards. You will likely stay ahead of the crowd all day!
    • Keep doing what you do so well Just because it is lighter, it doesn't mean that many of your line-busting strategies won't work. So if they don't inconvenience your trip, keep doing them and get even more done.

    I hope that this helps!

    Have a magical vacation!
