I’m a HUGE fan of Disney and my baby loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He will be turning one on April, am I carzy if want to take him to Disneyland? My husband fears he is too young still for Disney

    Hello Georgina!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s so exciting to be planning your son’s first visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

It sounds like you and your son are just as big of Disney fans as my family is. I truly believe Disneyland Park is for all ages. For the young, and the young at heart. Walt Disney said it best, “I think most of all what I want Disneyland to be is a happy place...where parents and children can have fun together." I remember both of my kids’ first trips to the Disneyland Resort like they were yesterday. My son was just about to turn two years old for his first trip. I have video of him walking down Main Street U.S.A. with his eyes beaming with excitement. All he wanted to do was meet Mickey Mouse. It was a very special trip and we have been Annual Passholders ever since. A year later, my daughter was born and at just 5 weeks old she made her very first trip down Main Street U.S.A. We have a picture in our home where my wife is smiling at my daughter and my daughter is smiling right back at her. My wife says that it’s her favorite picture I’ve ever taken and even though my daughter doesn't remember that day it will be ingrained in our hearts forever.

Now that I’ve probably made you cry happy tears, let me give you some tips that will help you make the most of your trip for the whole family. Take it slow and if he has one, make sure you bring your son’s comfort item like a blanket or stuffed animal. Ask for a “1st Visit” button at the entrance turnstiles or stop by City Hall to pick one up. The best advice I can give you is to take advantage of the Baby Care Centers located at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. They have a host of helpful amenities for parents with infants and toddlers. They also have the cutest little toilets for little ones under 42” tall. My kids loved stopping there for a potty break! They also have changing rooms with tables available to use. You said your son loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Have you taken a look at what Mickey’s Toontown has to offer? Number one on your list for the little guy would be a visit to Mickey’s House! You can see how Mickey Mouse lives with a tour of his house! Be ready to take a picture with Mickey Mouse himself at the end of your tour. Be sure to stop by Minnie’s House next door for a tour and picture as well! There’s so much else to explore for your little guy that he’s sure to have a blast! The fun doesn’t stop at Mickey’s Toontown either. You’re sure to find other attractions around both parks without a height requirement that the whole family can enjoy.

Well Georgina, I really hope you can pass this information over to your husband. Only the two of you will know when the right time is, but no matter when your son’s first trip is, it is sure to be the best day ever!

Remember, always believe in the magic!
