I'm hoping to run the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January, and I've been researching it here and on the RunDisney blog. I've seen many photos of runners on the course with characters. Are there Disney photographers taking these? Do you have to pay?

    Hello, Beth!

Taking photos with characters along the race course is one of unique benefits of participating in a runDisney event! It's not very often you can get a photo of yourself with Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew while running a half marathon.

There will be professional photographers stationed along the course to catch you in action as you run. They will also be stationed at some, but not all, of the character photo stops. These photos are taken by the skilled photographers of Marathon Foto, an outsourced company skilled at capturing running events. These photos will not be free of charge. Shortly after the event you will be emailed your images and you can choose to buy one, all, or none. There will also be photo packages available.

However, there will be Cast Members stationed at every photo opportunity to take photos of you with your personal camera or smart phone. Just have it ready to go when it's your turn and they will happily take that special photo for you.

I hope this helps, Beth! Please let me know if I can be of additional help as you begin planning your runDisney-cation. And don't forget to mark your calendar. Registration for the 2016 Walt Disney World® Half Marathon goes on sale April 28th.
