I'm a DAD, hope you will still answer :). Taking 3 boys (8,4,1) and wife there in FEB. and am wondering about the "special" things that i just shouldn't miss while i am there. Will be our first time, so i have no idea what to look for.

    Howdy Christopher:

The Moms Panel loves dads too, and we are here to help everybody.

As a dad with two young boys, I love spending quality time at Walt Disney World with my family. You will find the parks and resorts full of activities that your whole family will enjoy. Here are some ideas that should make this vacation special:

Since it's a first visit, check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up "first-visit" buttons. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to greet your family with a kind gesture.

Yo ho, yo ho: if your boys are anything like my sons (or me), they love pirates. Make a reservation for your family - wife included - to be transformed into pirates for the day at The Pirates League. Simply call (407) WDW-CREW (939-2739) for reservations (theme park admission required). You will go into The Pirates League civilians and leave as pirates with new pirate names, a pirate look, a pirate oath, and some sweet new swashbuckling maneuvers.

If your family likes to fish, consider some bass fishing. Call (407)939-BASS or (407)WDW-PLAY for more information.

For a dinner event, head to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Hoop-Dee-Doo is a vaudeville-style dinner show with a country twist. Dinner is served family style and includes favorites like fried chicken, smoked bbq pork ribs, fresh corn bread, strawberry shortcake and the most delicious country-style baked beans I have ever tasted.

If you want more activities, check out the water parks, miniature golf, and watercraft rentals.

    Enjoy your vacation.
