Mom And Son On Run

I'm currently planning our first disney trip as a family. I'm curious, how will this work with my 2 yr old? I know they don't require a ticket for admission, but what about meals? We are planning to purchase a meal plan, will he be included?

Hey there Samantha, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Visiting Walt Disney World for the first time with your family is such an adventure. My 5-year-old made his Disney debut when he was just a baby, and I've treasured each of the special moments we've had with him in our favorite place.

You're right that your little guy doesn't need a ticket for Theme Park admission since he's under 3, and the same applies to the Disney Dining Plan. The children's credits are for Guests ages 3-9, so you won't need them for your son. He can eat for free at buffet and family-style restaurants, and share from your plate at table service and quick service locations also at no charge. If he has enough of an appetite to have his own meal rather than sharing yours, you can order him something off the kids' menu and just pay out of pocket. The kids' meals are usually reasonably priced, so if you do go that route, it won't break the bank.

Also, you could bring along some of his favorite fruits or packaged foods to help supplement a meal he shares with you. When my son was very young, I always packed things like cookies, crackers and applesauce in my bag for him to munch on, and I never had any issues having him eat them in restaurants.

You'll find more information and tips for planning a Walt Disney World vacation with preschoolers on the Disney website.

I hope this helps you make lots of plans for delicious dining experiences, Samantha. Wishing your family a magical first Walt Disney World visit, and do come see us again if you have any more questions.

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
