Family With Medals

I'm considering a trip w/ a party of 5 (2 adults a teen and 8 & 11 year old) in October. Is it better to stay at a moderate hotel w/ a trundle bed or 2 rooms at a value resort.

There are pros and cons to each of these, but if I had to choose given the configuration of your family, I'd choose the 2 value rooms. I'm making this choice almost solely based on the fact that with the two value rooms you get two bathrooms. My family of five (I have an 11-year-old and 8-year-old twins) is always sticky and stinky after a day in the parks or a day at the pool. With that many people, simply getting everyone showered and dressed could take well over an hour with only one bathroom. And you can forget about privacy if anyone is having any travel-related digestive issues.

I just did a reality check with my kids on which option they would prefer. And my 11-year-old started screaming. "Two rooms, two rooms." She is clearly a girl that values her personal space ;-). Again, I could argue this the question the other way too ... the moderate resorts do have more food options and other amenities, but with older kids, I'd go for more space and privacy.
