Im coming w my 3 and 5 yr old to meet my family in WDW in Oct while my husband is still in Afghanistan. He got orders after the family trip had been set. Our kids first time in WDW will be without Daddy :( What could I do to make it more special for them?

    Hey there Carolina,

First off, I want to say thank you to your husband for his service. As a military mom who's been deployed twice, I felt the urge to answer this question for you and your family. This magical vacation will bring your family so much closer together, including Dad.

A great way to make this experience special for your 2 little blessings is to make it all about them. Make reservations at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Pirates League, and have them help pick FastPass+ selections for attractions they would love. Get them as involved as possible. If you would like a great guide for making the best use of your time within the theme parks, try this webpage: Planning for Pre-School Kids & Little Ones. Also, character dining would be another amazing memory to make with your children. Our family loves Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for our character dining experience. While my daughter is the Disney princess fanatic, my son also enjoyed our meal there.

Lastly, if your husband is able to be available to Skype, please have him experience the excitement with your children. The wifi within the theme parks is amazing, and it would be so fun to have him watch his kiddos meet Tinker Bell or Mickey Mouse in real time. I know those Skype sessions with my family kept me uplifted and in a great place during my time away. Plus, the kids will feel like Daddy shared the experience with them, and it would make that time even more special.

I hope this answered your question, Carolina. If you have any other questions about your upcoming vacation, feel free to ask me at any time. I'm always here to help you.
