Man in wheel chair getting off Expedition Everest

I'm coming to WDW with a foot injury and only walk short distances. Which mobility device is best to use in the parks....a wheelchair or an EVC? I have heard EVC may not be as easy to manage (worries about battery charge and rainfall)

Hey there, Jeannie! Thanks for visiting with the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have a foot injury! I'm sure this trip to Walt Disney World is just what the doctor, Doc McStuffins, ordered!

I would highly suggest that you have an ECV. They can be rented at the entrance of each theme park, and are available on a first come first serve basis. You can also rent an ECV from of Orlando's local vendors and have it delivered to your resort. On our first family vacation to Disney, my husband had an injury foot, too. The ECV was the best thing we could've had while during our visit. Wheelchairs can be difficult to push up inclines.

The ECV is motor operated and remained fully charge until the end of our day. We were there from rope drop until the fireworks show. It is Florida, so be sure to have a rain coat or umbrella that you can easily access. Driving the ECV and holding an umbrella is pretty easy, so no worries about that.

Even in large crowds, driving was no problem, and other guests were very considerate of my husband as he passed through.

Jeannie, I hope this gives you a better idea about which device to rent. If you have more questions about anything else concerning your upcoming vacation, please visit with us again!

    Happy planning,
    Korliss
