I'm bringing an autistic 9 yr old and want to know how long to spend in Epcot and animal kingdom as he gets bored easily! And do I need to book in advance to get them done up as a pirate? Thanks

    Hello Amanda!
Epcot is one of my favorite parks and I love to be absorbed in the scenic images of each country in World Showcase, not to mention shopping there.  To my younger children it does not hold their attention quite as well as the other parks.
The Future World section of Epcot has lots of attractions to hold the interest of anyone of any age.  If you arrive at park opening it will only take a few hours to have enjoyed most of the attractions in Future World.  Typically my family will enjoy Future World until lunch time and then decide if everyone is up for World Showcase after lunch.  While there are not many rides in World Showcase, there is certainly lots of one of kind experiences.  If you are short for time or attention span, you can tour Future World section of Epcot in half a day.  It will take some planning, but you could reasonably spend a portion of your day at Epcot before touring another park.
Animal Kingdom has a bit more to offer children, depending on what attractions you will be doing, this park can typically take half a day to a full day.  Remember that this park is not open as long as the other parks, so you can tour this one and still have time for touring another park.  The Boneyard is one area of Animal Kingdom that my children want to spend at least an hour discovering so there are some attractions  that can definitely entertain, but can also take a fair amount of time to pull your children away.
The Pirates League at Magic Kingdom is finally something boys and after years of princess makeovers they are breathing a sigh of relief. I highly suggest that you make reservations by calling (407)WDW-CREW or 407-939-2739.  Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance and requires a credit card to hold your reservation.  Please let us know if we can answer anymore of your questions!

    Enjoy your "Disney Time!"
