Pandora Family Floating Mountains

I'm going to Animal Kingdom next week, and I have a cast on my arm from surgery. I was wondering what rides I can't ride because we're trying to make a plan for all the rides we want to ride. I really hope I can ride the Pandora rides!

    Hi Bree,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I hope your surgery was a success and that you're healing well and feeling great.

You're going to be visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom THIS week – how exciting is that!? All in one day, you can visit Africa and India, sing along with Nemo and friends under the sea, take a time machine back to the era of the dinosaurs, and explore a distant planet. No matter how many times I visit, I'm amazed by how Disney's Animal Kingdom transports me to these gorgeous and fun lands – and don't even get me started about the amazing food, drinks, and snacks!

Bree, I'm sure you've talked to your doctor about what's safe for you in the theme parks, so be sure to follow that advice. I visited Walt Disney World Resort several times last year with a broken foot, and I did find that roller coasters and jerky rides hurt, so you might want to use caution on Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain and Primeval Whirl. One of my favorite attractions in the park is Kali River Rapids, so be sure your cast is waterproof or bring something to keep it dry. As for Pandora - The World of Avatar, you'll have no trouble on Na'vi River Journey, which is a gentle boat ride. I've heard from people who have successfully ridden Avatar Flight of Passage with one hand or a cast, and if you ask the Cast Member at the entrance, you'll be able to see and test the ride vehicle to be sure it's comfortable. Riding a banshee is kind of like being on a motorcycle, where you lean forward and hold handlebars, so it will depend on your injury and if you can withstand that position – but I'm sending you pixie dust that it will work for you!

Take good care of that arm during your epic day at Disney's Animal Kingdom! There is a First Aid Station in the theme park, so please stop by if you need to ice the injury. Speaking of ice, don't miss my favorite drink at Disney's Animal Kingdom: the Night Blossom from Pongu Pongu in Pandora. It's gorgeous and refreshing!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
