Hello! I'd like to run the Castaway Cay 5K while on my Disney Dream cruise in April. Are jogging strollers allowed or would you recommend signing my son up for daycare during that time?

    Ahoy, Dana!

One of my favorite things about visiting Castaway Cay is getting up a little early to go and run the Castaway Cay 5K! I'm so excited that both of my daughters will be old enough to participate with me in July, when we visit on the Disney Dream!

Due to the narrow paths on Castaway Cay, jogging strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs are not allowed in the Castaway Cay 5K. If your son is above the age of three and potty-trained, you can drop him off at Scuttle's Cove on your way to the race in the morning. Otherwise, if you need to sign him up for the It's a Small World Nursery, it is a good idea to book it as soon as possible.

The race takes about an hour and a half, from the time you meet on the ship, walk to the start line, stow bags, and then actually participate in the 5K. Obviously if you are a fast runner, the time is probably less. My husband and I typically walk the majority of the 5K, enjoying the scenery around Castaway Cay. It is also pretty hot and humid on the island!

I hope this helps with your planning for your cruise on the beautiful Disney Dream! Please let us know here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have further questions that arise as your voyage gets closer.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
