    Kevin from MA Asked

My husband is a war veteran with PTSD. This is our first family vacation with our children 2 and 4. Are there quiet places to go to get away from loud noises and crowds if my husband is having a hard time adjusting to the surroundings?

    Hello Kevin!

Thanks so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Visiting Walt Disney World is such a magical experience for people of all ages, but it can also be a bit loud and overstimulating as well.

My youngest is autistic and has a hard time with the noise and crowd. We got him noise canceling headphones (Peltor brand seemed to work the best for us) for him to wear throughout the parks when it gets too loud. If that is a bit much you could also try regular headphones with a smart phone or music player to give some soothing sounds and hopefully drown out the crowds.

As far as quiet areas in the parks, we often try to schedule our meals for off peak times (i.e. lunch at 2pm) to escape into a restaurant for a little quiet during the day. Epcot is also one of our favorite parks for finding quiet as we can stroll around the World Showplace or spend some time inside The Seas with Nemo & Friends® where there is a quiet ride and an aquarium.

Over in Magic Kingdom, off to the side of the Plaza Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor, is a quiet walkway that still allows you to see Main Street USA, but is quieter and a great place to be for the parades if you’d like to see them, but not be in the thick of the crowd.

In any park, you can ask a Cast Member at Guest Relations for some ideas of quieter areas as well. They are more than happy to help! I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions as you plan your visit!

    See you real soon!
