My husband and I are wanting to plan our first trip to WDW with our four children ages 7,6,4 and 2. What would be the best time of year to bring young chidren ie Christmas, spring or summer? Also are there any events or places that we "have to" g

You've got your hands full, Shawnna!  So do we; we're a family of six also.  For your family's first visit to Disney, I'd suggest a visit in the late spring (think May) if that's doable.  If you are able to swing a trip then you'll avoid the majority of the spring break/Easter holiday crowds.  My second choice would be late summer (end of August) because it would also provide you with a somewhat less crowded time to visit.  My last choice would be Christmas, not for a lack of magic, but because it is a crazy busy time of year and I can't--in good faith--recommend that for your family's first trip!

To make the most of your visit, I'd suggest trying to stay for at least a week and visiting each park at least once.  As soon as you nail down a time frame for your trip, come back and ask the moms for special event suggestions pertaining the month of your visit!
