Family enjoying activities on board

Hi! My husband and I wanted to know if our two kids ages 5 and 3 need a passport to go on a Disney cruise? What papers would we need for them?

    Ahoy, Jenna!

It's always lovely welcoming a fellow Disney Cruise-loving adventurer from Illinois to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your family is going to have an amazing time on your upcoming voyage. There are so many activities for your little ones onboard, as well as for you and your hubby, too! I love taking a little adult time to lounge in Quiet Cove Pool or work out in the Fitness Center overlooking the ocean.

I'm so glad you asked this important question. At this time, if your family will be embarking on a Disney Cruise Line itinerary leaving from a U.S. port and returning to that same U.S. port, your kiddos do not need to have a valid passport to set sail. Children under the age of 16, who are U.S. citizens and traveling with their parents, may bring a state-issued birth certificate as their proof of citizenship. Before setting sail, take a look at the Passports & Travel Documentation information so each person in your family will have all the required documents needed.

Even though a passport is not required to set sail for certain itineraries, Disney Cruise Line highly recommends that Guests have them. In the unlikely event that there is an emergency while you're visiting a port of call, your entire family will be able to quickly fly home. Each member of my family has one, and it gives me peace of mind during each cruise!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please visit us again with any other questions!
