My husband has vertigo and can't go on some of the faster rides and roller coasters. My sons are 6&8 and don't want to ride alone. Do the roller coaster seat 3 or would we be able to use parent swap where I would ride twice, once with each of t

    Hi Christine,

You have a very good question about how to board rides with two children. My husband and I have four children and usually at some point during each vacation we divide up and each adult take two children for our own separate adventures. In these instances I have learned when boarding attractions with two or more children by yourself there are a couple of strategies to help you feel relaxed... well, until you are tumbling down Splash Mountain towards the brier patch that is!

First, there are some attractions which seat 3 across but it is truly dependent upon the size of the adult and children. Since I am quite blessed in my backside, unless the children accompanying me are small I tend to prefer placing two children directly in front of me side by side while I sit behind them. So for rides which seat 2 across simply have your children sit together in front of you. You will be able to see your kids the entire time and they will have a buddy sitting beside them. The same goes for rides which have tandem seating like Space Mountain. Place both of your children in front of you while you take the third seat and can easily oversee them. Here is a link for Walt Disney World Attractions which have a filter set for "thrill rides". You can click on each attraction and view gallery photos of each ride to see what each one's seating is like.

My last tip is when you are about to board an attraction let the Cast Member who is directing Guests towards their seats know you have 2 children and would like to place them in front of you. The Cast Members are very helpful and will assist you to have seating in such a way which is comfortable for all of you.

Have a Magical vacation and please let us know if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help!
