My Husband, two-year-old daughter and I will be taking our first Disney Cruise in February 2016. We're SO excited! I just know that we'll want to go ahead and sign up for our next cruise while we're on board, but I'm wondering how that works. Advice?

    Welcome Aboard, Marissa!

I'm so excited to hear you'll be taking your first cruise with Disney Cruise Line in a few months, and I'm happy to hear you're already thinking ahead to book your next one!

The best way to beat the end-of-a-Disney-Cruise-Line-vacation blues is to book a future sailing before stepping off the ship. By booking onboard, guests receive discounts and stateroom credits! The norm for most future cruises is about a 10% savings, and you'll also pay a reduced deposit for sailings of seven nights or more. Guests are allowed to book up to two staterooms for a future cruise. Simply visit the Future Cruise Sales Desk sometime during your sailing to take advantage of this awesome re-booking opportunity.

If you're not certain of specific sail dates for your next cruise, Disney Cruise Line has recently allowed guests to book a "placeholder cruise". Guests will need to make plans to travel within a 24-month span, but will not have to select specific sail dates up front. After 24 months, your deposit will be returned if dates aren't chosen. Placeholder cruises can be cancelled at any time during the 24-month window for a full refund of the deposit ($200).

If you're sure you'll be returning to sail with Disney Cruise Line (which I know you'll want to!), I encourage you to lock in the discount while you're onboard. One bit of advice: I suggest visiting the Future Cruise Sales Desk early in your sailing. It tends to get crowded near the end of the cruise!

I hope this helps! Please come back and visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any further questions before you cruise. Have a magical day! - Diane W.
