My husband, me, and our two girls (6 and 10) are planning our first trip for April 10-14, 2017, staying at All Star Movies Resort. We have the base pass - no water parks or park hopping. What tips do you have on time management to get the most of our stay?

    Hi Jennifer,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am always delighted to greet a fellow North Carolinian!

My family does not always do park hopper or water park tickets either. Even without the park hopper or water park tickets, we have a blast. But it does require some planning. First, make sure you make Fast Pass+ and Advanced Dining reservations.

Second, when you make your dining reservations, be sure they are in the same park where you have your Fast Passes each day. If doing a Fast Pass+ ride just before a dining reservation, make the dining reservation at a restaurant that is in the same vicinity as the ride if possible. It is no fun to exit a ride, famished, and then have to march across the park to get to your dining reservation.

Third, you can make dining reservations at restaurants that are not in the parks. Just be sure that you have downloaded the My Disney Experience Mobile App to help you get from the park to the restaurant. We always eat at Chef Mickey's. If you choose to do so, I suggest dining there on a day when you visit Magic Kingdom. From Magic Kingdom you can either walk to the Contemporary Resort or take the Resort Monorail

Finally, whatever you do, estimate your travel time between the resort, parks and dining reservations. We have experienced our fair share of running across a park to make a Fast Pass or dining reservation. My general rule of thumb now is to leave the resort at least an hour and a half before we need to be anywhere - seriously.

    Happy Planning!
