My husband tore his Achilles tendon and will be having surgery 6 weeks before our trip. How should we go about a scooter rental? Have one delivered to the hotel or get one in the park? Can you get those scooters on the Disney buses? Thank you!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Renee ~

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's injury but hoping for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) are available for rent at all Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. ECVs may not be removed from the destination where they were rented, but you only have to pay once per day to rent an ECV. If you plan to visit more than one theme park during a day, you can show your receipt at the ECV rental location in the next theme park to get an ECV. This is based upon availability as there are a limited number of ECVs. If you plan to leave and return to the same park on the same day, your ECV can be held for you. ECVs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and advanced reservations are not accepted.

If you feel that your husband would need to use the ECV outside of a theme park, there are several Orlando-area companies that also offer ECVs rentals. Pre-orders and deliveries to Walt Disney World Resort hotels are available through these providers. You can find a suggested list of local companies on the link I've provided above.

Most of the buses can usually accommodate up to two ECVs or wheelchairs. If there are other Guests in wheelchairs or ECVs waiting, you may have to wait on more than one bus. The larger watercrafts can usually accommodate ECVs as well.

I would see how your husband is doing after his surgery. If he tires easily or is still recovering, I'd go with an outside company so that he can use the ECV to help him get to the buses and get around your resort. It can sometimes be a bit of a hike. As your trip goes on, he may be thankful for the wheels to give him stamina.

Please feel free to visit us again with all of your planning questions. We are hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
