My husband and I are thinking about taking our daughters (5&2) to Disney world in October. We have been many times but never in the fall. What week would be best to go? Trying to go when crowds aren't too bad and hopefully free dining.

    Hi Ashley!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

October is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.  We love visiting during that month and participating in Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  This is a special event that takes place on select nights at Disney's Magic Kingdom.  You will find dates soon on the website . Also, be sure to follow the Disney Parks Blog. They usually publish an article when the dates are released.

The crowds in October are generally mild even though it has become a more popular time to visit as more and more schools now have "fall breaks".  I like to use the website Touring Plans ( to plan my trips.  They have a crowd prediction calendar that is very accurate.  According to their calendar, the first and last weeks of October will be less crowded than the middle weeks. has a great chart with past discount dates and when they were offered.  You can get an idea of what normally happens, but keep in mind that every year is different.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
