    Jessie from TN Asked

Hi! My husband and I are thinking about booking a two-night stay at the Fort Wilderness Campsites (tent/partial). We will have some free time to explore the resort, and we are wondering how feasible it is to get to all of the main areas on a bike.

Hi Jessie! Fort Wilderness is a large resort property but full of fun things to see and do. Planning a couple of nights there surely will be a fun little vacation.

There are two loops that are designated for tents but if you don't mind paying a higher price you can book any of the camp loops on property. Many guests rent one of the golf carts to get around but if you have a bike of your own you will find that less expensive and easy. If you are planning on renting bikes then be aware that they must be returned by early evening to the Bike Barn each day.

With bikes you can venture through all of the cabin and camping loops as much as you wish. if it is during a holiday time there will be many great decorations to see as the guests come ready to be in the festive spirit and decorate their sites. You can easily bike to either of the two trading posts, two pools, bike Barn, horseback stables, playgrounds, Pioneer Hall, Disney stables, and the marina.

If you are wondering about traveling around the complete Disney World property on a bike it is possible but not advisable in any way. The traffic around the parks and other resorts is unbelievable with many drivers being from out of town and not sure where they are going. Using a bike can actually be quite dangerous and it is highly advised that you use the Disney transportation of boats, monorails, and buses when getting around property.

There is a nice wooded path that can lead from Fort Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge that is perfect for a bike and gives you an added exercise regiment and new scenery to look at. Many deer claim the area around as their home so sighting them is almost guaranteed at some point during your stay.

Let me know if I can help you with  other Fort Wilderness questions or planning questions for your upcoming trip!
