My husband and I are teachers so we need to plan our trip around school vacations. I'm trying to decide whether April vacation or in June after school gets out. I'm trying to figure out which would be better in terms of cost, weather, and crowds.

    Hi Elizabeth!

First let me start by thanking both you and your husband for being teachers! In my opinion teachers have such a big impact on our youth and they really help to shape their future.

In my experience, if there is a school break the crowds typically tend to be higher at the Walt Disney World Resort. Personally, when I am trying to plan my family’s vacation I use a crowd predictor (like the one from Undercover Tourist) to help plan the best time to visit. No matter the time of year that you go, there is this great free service called FastPass+. With FastPass+ you can pre book up to three return times per day for some of the best attractions and entertainment that Disney has to offer. This means less time spent waiting in lines and more time to experience so much more fun!

The weather in April tends to be a bit milder than the weather in June. As a New Yorker, I have found April in Orlando to be warm enough for swimming and flip-flops! I like that it does seem to be less humid and the summer showers haven’t crept in yet. June is still a wonderful time to go though it can be really hot and humid. In my opinion when it is hot, If you carve out time to take a dip in the swimming pool or experience one of the water parks, the weather won’t slow you down!

Lastly when looking at cost I always book whenever there are Special Offers. If you are looking to save money, consider booking a Magic Your Way Package that includes your Resort hotel stay, tickets, and a dining plan. These packages have always given my family the most bang for our buck and you can often find special offers that sweeten the deal!

I hope that I have helped to answer your question. Be sure to stop back real soon, I can’t wait to continue helping you plan your unforgettable family vacation!
