My Husband and I are taking our 5 & 6 year old daughters to WDW in May 09. This will be the girls 1st trip. I'm wondering what would be the best character dining experience for them and also which is the best experience, breakfast or dinner?

    Jennifer,

I'm so excited for your daughters!  What a wonderful age for them to visit Disney.

Are your daughters Princess fans?  If so, I highly recommend lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table (CRT).  Eating in the castle is just beautiful.  The food is fantastic and the atmosphere just doesn't get any more magical than dining IN Cinderella Castle.  This meal also includes a photo package, magic wands, and wishing stars, and visits from lots of princesses.

Another favorite character meal is Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort, where you'll find classic characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto.  This is a great FUN spot, where they love to celebrate special occasions, and the whole restaurant joins in on the party.  We prefer breakfast here, but dinner is good as well.

I have had both breakfast and dinner at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends, and both have great food.  If your daughters are Pooh fans then I think they would really enjoy eating here, and it's right in the Magic Kingdom which is very convenient.

I don't think there is necessarily any one meal which is better than another as far as time of day goes - I'd base that more off of your family's preference.  My husband, for example, isn't a big breakfast eater so he would rather eat out for dinner.  I do suggest that you research the venue before you book.  Restaurants like CRT, 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian, and Princess Storybook Dining in Epcot change a lot from meal to meal.  Characters can be different, food style changes, etc, so make sure you know exactly what you'll be getting at the time and location you choose.  Feel free to ask us lots of questions - we love to help!  :)
