My husband and I are taking my son to WDW for his 2nd birthday in October. I'm wondering which would be a better experience for him - Chef Mickey's or the Backyard BBQ? He loves playhouse disney (doing lunch there one day) and anything/everything Mickey!

Hi Jenifer!  I love both of these character dining experiences at Walt Disney World!   The best choice for you would depend on your son and his personality.

Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is a great spot for the kids to get close and have a lot of interaction with the characters as they are invited to dance the night away with all their favorites.  But because it is an active event with dancing the younger children can be intimidated by all the activity and crowds on the dance floor. Sometimes even a parent can get a little excited trying to snap the perfect picture and they run into the kids who are wildly dancing.  If your son is out-going and not afraid of crowds then this will work for you.

My recommendation, however, would probably be for you to try Chef Mickey as that is a much more controlled experience and for a two year it would offer some character meet and greet time without having to deal with crowds.  The food is very good and you will meet the main Disney group and of course that would include Mickey Mouse!
