My husband and I are taking our 4 kids on their first Disney Cruise in Feb 2012 to the Western Caribbean. Do you know if it is hot that time of year? And do we need to buy mugs for drinks like when we are at Disney World?

    Hi Maureen!

It should be very nice during that time of year.  It can be hot, but it shouldn't be overly so.  However, Castaway Cay on the other hand can be cool and the water can even be cold.  We just did the 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise over Thanksgiving; St. Thomas and St. John were hot and the water was warm, but Castaway Cay was cool and the water was cold (but not so cold that we couldn't swim).

You don't have to buy mugs for soft drinks, etc as Disney will provide free cups near the beverage station.  However, the cups are not that large; many guests bring larger cups or mugs in order to bring a large drink back to their stateroom, to other places on the ship, etc.  I don't know if it is necessary, but I always told my family to get a new Disney provided cup, fill that up, and then poor the drink from that cup to their larger mugs.  I think that helps to ensure that only clean cups are used at the beverage station.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
