My husband and I would like to run the Castaway Cay 5km, and are travelling with our 25 and 10 month old children. What are our options since "It's a Small World" doesn't open until 9:00?

    Ahoy, Lisa!

Thank you for sending in this excellent question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! On my past cruises, I've enjoyed beginning my day on Disney's private island by running the Castaway Cay 5K with my husband, so I'm glad you reached out about your childcare options. I contacted Disney Cruise Line about your question and the good news is "it's a small world" nursery will be open early so both you and your husband can participate in the run! If you want to make your reservation ahead of time, you can go ahead and select 9:00 a.m. as the start time. Once aboard just stop by to speak with the youth counselors about your situation, and they can fill you in on the additional operating hours and adjust the time you selected to drop off your little ones.

Registration information will be listed in your cruise newsletter, the Personal Navigator. You'll meet on the ship to get your official runDisney bib and debark with the rest of the group. The path for the run is flat, but can be very hot depending on the time of year so be sure to take advantage of the water station at the beginning of the path and the one along the way. You'll be awarded your adorable Castaway Cay 5K medal upon completion, and you can find t-shirts for purchase at the two retail shops onboard.

It was a pleasure assisting you with your question, Lisa! Please let us know if we can help again in the future.

    Have a magical day!
