My husband has replaced heart mitral valve & hip replacement. He has issues standing in long lines. What documentation does he need to have?

    Hi Tamara,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am happy to provide some suggestions to help your husband navigate the theme parks and resorts!

Before you arrive, review the Services for Guests with Disabilities. One of the services that might be helpful is the Disability Access Service. When you arrive to the first theme park, stop by Guest Relations and speak to a cast member. She or he will work with you to determine how best to accommodate your husband's needs. If the cast member determines that the Disability Access Service is appropriate, you can use it in addition to Fast Pass+. Although my husband always has his medical documentation with him when we travel, a cast member has not "verified" that documentation. She or he asks specific questions about his needs and then makes recommendations about accommodations.

Once registered, to use the service, a member of your party will need to approach a cast member at the entrance to a ride or attraction, explain that a member of your party has the Disability Access Service and then request a return time for the ride. When you return, your husband would need to scan in for the ride first.

Tamara, since my husband just had a hip replacement, we have used the Disability Access service in the past. It has truly been a lifesaver. He prefers to walk through the parks but, on one trip, did have to use ECV Rentals at Epcot and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme parks. We arrived early because ECV's are distributed on a first come, first serve basis!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
