My husband and I are planning a vacation for 2014 with 5 kids ranging from 18 months, 4 yr old twins , 14 yr old and 18 years any suggestions on how we can get the most with such a varied age group of kids

    Hi Kimyartta!

Having 5 kids myself, I know all too well the challenges that face larger families on vacation. Most attractions at Walt Disney World are designed with the whole family in mind and can easily accommodate your entire family.  On attractions with seating limitations, we let the oldest two ride together, the middle two ride with dad and the youngest one is with me. I'm sure you thinking, "but what about the attractions the little ones are too young to enjoy?"Disney has a solution for that as well.

Select attractions feature what is known as Rider Switch, or sometimes referred to as baby swap, let the cast member outside the entrance know that you would like a rider switch ticket. The cast member will give you a ticket that will allow you to wait with the younger children, while the rest of your family experiences the attraction. The waiting adult then switches places with the other adult without having to wait in line.Rider Switch has been a huge lifesaver during my vacations. This way both of you can experience the attraction with your older children, without having to spend time waiting in two separate lines.

Another service is Disney's FastPass,at participating attractions you will just insert your ticket or Key To The World Card and you will receive a pass with a return time. It's kind of like holding your place in line.To make this process smoother I will hold everyone's tickets or Key To The World card and be the official FastPass collector. While the older ones are on a attraction that is likely to be too intense for the younger ones, I proceed to collect FastPasses for another attraction.Often times, depending on what time of year your visit, I will be done by the time the older ones have experienced the attraction.

I hope this helps and please visit me again if you have anymore questions!

    Happy Planning!
