Hello, My husband and I are planning a vacation for 2013 with our five children. We have already got a quote on what our package will be but I was wondering from all you experienced mothers about how much money should we save up for extras?? Thanks!

This question is a really tough one, because I am unsure as to whether or not you have added the Disney Dining Plan to your vacation package.  It is also difficult for me to determine a spending estimate because I do not know the length of your Walt Disney World vacation.

The best way to approach this is to sit down with your husband to decide on a realistic budget.  It's better to decide what you can afford in advance before you start trying to plan the specifics of your vacation.  This will make it easier to plan for special activities, tours, shopping, etc.  I have listed a few ideas below in hopes that they will help you formulate a budget that will suit your family.

If you have added a Disney Dining Plan, most of your meals and snacks will be covered, but you'll still need to budget for add-on drinks, snacks, and goodies that are not included with the plan. Gratuity is not included, so you'll also need to prepare for that and if you and the hubby care for a glass of wine or cocktail, please keep in mind that these are extra as well.

Special activities, tours, and excursions will cost extra, so browse the site and decide whether or not any of them will fit into your budget.  I also always budget a few dollars for resort cast members such as Bellmen and Mousekeeping, but that is optional.  It's a good idea to have some spare change tucked away in case of an emergency as well.

Finally, the most important part of your budget will be your shopping budget.  This is the part that always get me in trouble. I find that it really helps to wait until the end of the trip to purchase souvenirs...this way you have an idea of how much spending money you have remaining after all the necessities have are out of the way.

Money Saving Tip:  Bring ponchos, water bottles, sunscreen, etc. from home where they can be purchased at a reasonable price!
