my husband and I are planning our first vacation to WDW and i am confused i don't know what to do plus i have a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children ages 18, 12, 10, and 9. We are planning sometime next year 2011

    Alisha:

Like you, I don't have the standard two adults/two children family that fits so nicely into almost every room at Disney.  Here are some options.

    • Cabin at Fort Wilderness: I love to share the fort's casual atmosphere with others. It has a separate bedroom with a double bed and bunks and in the living area, a Murphy bed. It comes with a full kitchen, a large deck, grill, and lots of fresh air for a family to find their own space. The resort caters to families with its pool, campfire sing-a-long and marina activities.
    • Family Suite at All-Star Music: A step up from simply getting two rooms at a Value resort, these offer a separate bedroom, large living area, fold-out sofa and a chair and ottoman that transform into day beds. Their advantage: two bathrooms. Unlike the cabin, it offers only a kitchenette with a microwave and a mini-fridge.
    • Deluxe Room at the Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge. These sizable rooms have two queens, a fold-out sofa, lots of drawer space and two tv sets. You only have one bathroom and no kitchenette, but most of the time, these rooms are on the concierge level of the resort, offering continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day. Our stay at the Boardwalk in November was one of the most relaxing, luxurious vacations we've ever experienced.
    • Two-Bedroom Villa: These offer all the luxuries, from the full kitchen and living area to the two bathrooms and jacuzzi tub in the Master. All are at Deluxe resorts which offer proximity to parks, themed restaurants and beautiful pool experiences.
Although your pocketbook may be your guide, each offers a totally different experience. You can save in other areas like dining or transportation to give you an upgraded experience. Let me know if you have more questions about planning your vacation. Just come back to my bio page!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
