Hi! My husband and I are planning our first trip to Disney as a family. At the time we would like to go our daughter will be 2 months shy of 2 years old. Will she be old enough to enjoy the trip? Will it be more trouble than its worth for parents??

Hi, Ann! I think you and your husband are awesome for bringing your 22 mo. old daughter to Disney World. We've taken our youngest son when he was 6 mo. and 18 mo. and we all had a blast.

I've seen two schools of thought on bringing infants and toddlers to Disney World. One camp is determined to not bring their kids to Disney World until they're "old enough to remember it." The other camp says that it's never too early to see your kids smile and share amazing experiences as a family. As you may have guessed, my wife and I are strong subscribers to the latter philosophy.

The hardest part of bringing a little one to Disney World is the plane ride, but even the whole airport experience is more enjoyable when traveling to and from Walt Disney World when you stay on property and take advantage of Disney's Magical Express service. What's more, since your daughter is under two, she can fly for free on most airlines by sitting on your lap, and since she's under three, she gets free entry into the theme parks.

Once you arrive at Disney World, there is so much for you and your husband to do with your daughter. You can ride attractions together if there is no height limit. If there is a height restriction, take advantage of the rider swap option: one of you will get to hang out with your daughter while the other experiences the attraction. Then, you switch off and the other gets some daughter time while the other gets the thrill ride.

At 18 mo., our youngest son had a huge smile pasted to his face on all the attractions (especially it's a small world,) and he loved the parades, dancing to park music and waving to the characters from a safe distance. Midday breaks were key to preserving everyone's happiness.

Please let us know if we can help with any aspect of planning your first trip!
