My husband and I are planning our fifteen year anniversary (February 3) to Walt Disney World. Looking for best resort choices (romantic, yet budget friendly) as well as romantic restaurant suggestions (on the Dining Plan). Thank you!

    Kimberly:

My husband and I celebrated our 15th Anniversary at Disney World last year!  We enjoyed it so much, we traveled to celebrate again this year.

Boardwalk Inn would be my first choice to celebrate an anniversary, but if you're on a budget, consider Port Orleans: French Quarter.  The iron rails, "brick" streets, and courtyards mimic what you'd find in New Orleans. We splurged for a preferred King room overlooking the Sassagoula River last year.  I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary when I made the reservation, and it was not lost on me that we were put in Building 7, room 7148--farthest from the pool, nice and quiet. A corner room in building 5, 6 or 7 overlooking the river would give you fabulous views: 5123, 6126, 6226, or 6326 were rooms I noted to request in the future.

We ate at Artist Point for dinner last year, and as much as I loved my buffalo sirloin with risotto and our table by the window, the restaurant was quite loud with the sounds of children at dinner.  I have four kids, so I can tune it out, but, honestly, I was surprised by this atmosphere at a Signature Dining restaurant.

This year, we opted to celebrate at Citricos at the Grand Floridian and enjoyed a dining experience 180 degrees different from last year!  Our waiter was so attentive and we were not treated as though we were a number. Our view of the grounds from our table near the window helped me appreciate the hotel. Our food was equal if not better than Artist Point. I had a pan-seared fish special, my husband ordered the pork two-ways. I could have licked my plate. Both Artist Point and Citricos would cost you 2 credits, but Citricos was worth it.

    Wishing y'all a memorable anniversary!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
