Kids on Toy Story Mania

If my husband and myself have a Fastpass for R’n’R Coaster but my 4 year old has a Fastpass for Toy Story Mania, will she be expected to ride alone? Otherwise all our fastpasses will have to be for rides my daughter can go on, thank you

Hi, Jenna! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

It sounds like you have a fun afternoon planned at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Unfortunately, your 4-year-old will not be permitted to ride alone, as children under 7 must be accompanied on each attraction by someone over the age of 14. In this case, either you or your husband would also need a FastPass for Toy Story Mania in order for your daughter to use her FastPass for that attraction.

For the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, you and your husband will want to take advantage of the Rider Switch program which will allow one of you to wait with your daughter while the other enjoys that attraction. Then you’ll “switch” and the other parent will ride while the first rider waits with your daughter. Of course, this means each of you will ride alone (unless you have other adults in your party), but my husband and I have taken advantage of this feature when our daughter was younger and it’s worked out well. Sometimes we’ll also split up and he and my daughter will use a FastPass for an attraction that I’d prefer not to ride (while I do something I’d enjoy) or my daughter and I will ride something together while my husband goes off on his own. We coordinate our FastPass windows, though, so our experiences overlap. That way we’re still together for most of the day, but aren’t just sitting around waiting for the other to finish an attraction. This system might work for you as well.

Remember: even though you can book up to three FastPass+ experiences in advance per day per person, after you’ve used all three, you can continue to book more (one at a time, depending on availability). You can do this through your My Disney Experience mobile app or through the FastPass+ kiosks located throughout each of the Theme Parks.

Hopefully these tips will help you maximize your fun time AND your family time, Jenna. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
