My husband, 22 month old son and I will be visiting WDW and staying at the Poly 12/16 - 12/19 and have deluxe dp. We plan on returning to the hotel for lunches (and naps). Will we need ADRs for lunch at the Poly during out stay? Thanks for the help!

    Hello Joanne,

Advanced Dining Reservations are always recommended but with that said, my parents are actually on vacation there right now and on the Dining Plan.  We talk almost every day and it seems as though they are not having any problems getting into some restaurants that they hadn't pre-booked.  They did make ADR's for the more popular restaurants (such as LeCellier, Narcoosee's, etc....), but they wanted to add a few more and even had luck getting into Narcoosee's an extra time during their 2 week vacation but they had to be available to eat quite late (9:45pm).  They also walked up to the Kona Café at the Polynesian Resort and had to wait only about 5 minutes before being seated.  I think for the Polynesian the only one I would think you may not get into without an ADR would be the Spirit Of Aloha Dinner Show (this is a very popular dining experience and has always been quite filled up when I have tried booking it in advance of our vacations).  I would think that for lunch you would probably be okay to walk-up to the Kona Café and get in without waiting too long.  Captain Cook's Snack Company is a Counter Service and will not require any ADR's.

So to finish, I definitely am all about recommending ADR's, but from what my parents are telling me daily, it does not seem that overly busy at this moment for most of the dining experiences, but you will have the more popular one's as I mentioned where I think you would probably be out of luck getting in without an ADR.  If there are any that you really want to have I would definitely try securing them from home right now and if you are not too fussy and don't mind maybe having to wait a while or pick and choose your restaurant choices based on availability then I would just wait until you get there and play it by ear!  Have a magical vacation!

    Best wishes,
