    Deborah from WA Asked

My husband loves to fish. Are there any fishing excursions for a family of 3 (one is a 1yr old) at WDW? How much does this cost?

    Hi Deborah,

There are 2 different types of "fishing excursions" located at Walt Disney World.   One is a 2 hour fishing excursion for you and a group of up to 4 other guests on a "Bass Boat" and the other is a minimum 2 hour excursion using a "Pontoon Boat" (there are extended excursions available as well).  Please visit the above link for more information about current pricing and available locations, or call: (407) 939-BASS(2277).  Theoretically, any child 15 years of age or under must be accompanied by an adult, but because the minimum time period is 2 hours, I cannot see this being a suitable excursion for a 1 year old (just my personal opinion).  However, it does sound like your husband would have a blast!!!

All Walt Disney World Resort Guided Fishing Excursions include:  An experienced guide, Rod and reel, Tackle, Artificial and live bait, Beverages, and a One year BASS membership!

This is Bass fishing on a "catch and release" program, just so you are aware.  If you really want to experience something fun and include your 1 year old, they do offer "Dockside Fishing" at:

  • Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds
  • Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside
  • This is on a "first come, first served" basis.  You will head to the Marina and sign up.  Then you will receive your "Cane Pole" (for a fee of $4.00-$10.00 approximately, as I was told by a Cast Member in February "2008").  You will have to purchase bait (they do have strict requirements on which bait can be used whether it is live or artificial bait!).  I suggest you weigh the pros and cons of both options and decide on the one that best suits your family.  Have a great trip and don't forget your sunscreen.

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
